About Andrew
Andrew has been a furniture craftsman for 30 years, working in homes across the UK and Europe.
He first developed an interest in wood at the age of six: “I remember my dad teaching me how to use a coping saw to make a clock. I was fascinated by how I could create something from a material, wood, that felt so comfortable to use.” Andrew’s first wood-based project was a bird box and the age of seven – a present for his much-loved granny.
Years later, it was thanks to a conversation with his granny who convinced him he obviously had a talent for working with, and an affinity for wood that led him to follow his passion.
Andrew formally studied furniture making, then undertook a series of complementary apprenticeships including upholstery and metalwork.
He has a natural aptitude for a wide variety of crafts particularly traditional, such as green woodworking and steam-bending.
Inspired by the philosophy and design of the Shakers, whose furniture follows the guiding principles of 'simplicity, utility and honesty', Andrew seeks to create furniture that has a timeless quality and that enhances both traditional and contemporary environments.
Andrew lives and works in the heart of the South Downs National Park, Hampshire.
